2 Things You Must Have To Lose Weight With Any Weight Loss Plan

There is no doubt that losing weight can be one of the most difficult things to accomplish. That's one big reason why so many people go from one weight loss plan to another, hoping they will find the magic key to success. Of course, there is no magic key, but there are two things that you need to lose weight effectively. Put these two into action and you will see yourself dropping the pounds.

In order to lose weight successfully you will need to have a crystal clear goal and know what is going to motivate you. Here's why.

Have A Weight Loss Goal

I hear so many people simply say they want to lose some extra weight whenever they start a new diet. Instead of saying that, you need to know exactly what your goal is. Do you want to lose 5 pounds, 10 pounds, or 50 pounds, etc? You need to set your goal and incorporate that into any weight loss plan or diet program.

The important thing is to be realistic. You really don't want to set a goal of losing 25 pounds in 2 weeks. It's just not realistic. But, a goal of 5 pounds a week is very doable.

Now, break down your long term goal into shorter goals. For example, if you have a weight loss goal of losing 25 pounds in the next 60 days, break that down into weekly goals. So for this example, to lose 25 pounds it would be approximately 3 pounds a week. Doing this will do a couple of different things for you. One, it is realistic and two, it is achievable.

Looking at 25 pounds can be tough when you first start, but looking at losing 3 pounds in a week is much easier. You can achieve that and not get discouraged. Getting discouraged because you set an unrealistic goal will only lead to disappointment, depression and quitting. I'm sure many of you have been there and done that.

What Is Your Motivation?

Now, it is important to write out your "why". What is the motivation behind wanting to reach your weight loss goal? Do you want to lose weight to fit into some clothes you always wanted to wear? Is it because of the holidays coming up? Did the doctor tell you that you needed to lose weight?

Setting a goal is one thing, but it will take some motivation behind it in order to experience success. Your motivation is what will help push you on those days when you may feel like quitting.
