How Can You Go On Vacation And Still Stay On Your Diet?

While going on a vacation is a lot of fun, trying to stay on your diet can be a different story. Not only is it tempting to just let go and eat whatever you want, but many times it is tough to find the right kinds of food choices. Here's some tips to help you eat as healthy as possible when taking a vacation.

1. If you are driving then you can make some great snacks to take along with you. Things like fresh vegetables and fruits along with crackers, yogurt, sandwiches, etc, are so much better than stopping at that high calorie, high fat, fast food drive-thru.

2. Are you flying? While this can be a little more of a challenge, it is still possible to eat healthy. Most of the airlines and airports have made significant changes in their menu offerings. Now you can find low fat foods and veggie plates as well.

3. If you are staying in a hotel during your vacation you will find that most offer a special continental breakfast option. This can include lots of cereals and fresh fruit which really helps you get a great start.

4. Time to dine out? Well, you already know how to handle this. Just try to leave out the appetizers and don't overdo it. You can still have fun and splurge and then make up for it the next day. But, whatever you do, don't eat a huge meal right before you go to bed. If you do find yourself eating too much, go for a little walk and work some of it off.

Although it may seem difficult to try and stay on your diet while on vacation, it really isnt' if you just watch things and try to make good choices. The most important thing though is to have some fun, relax, and don't get upset with yourself if you do eat a few extra foods you know you shouldn't have. It's your vacation afterall and you can get back on track again when you get home.
